- Juvéderm®: Juvéderm® is also a clear gel with hyaluronic acid as the primary ingredient. Similarly, it has multiple formulations, with Juvéderm®Volbella XC and Juvéderm® Ultra XC being the approved forms for lip filling.
What is the procedure for lip augmentation?
The lips may be numbed with an anesthetic prior to the procedure to ensure optimal comfort for the patient. Once it has taken effect, the professional carrying out the treatment will administer the injectable brand of choice into the lips. This will be done carefully and into precise locations so as to achieve a balanced look. The procedure is minimally invasive and should not take over an hour from start to finish.
What to expect after lip augmentation?
Lip augmentation can be very convenient for patients as the procedure itself takes relatively little time and there is essentially no aftercare required following the procedure. A patient can resume their daily routine immediately after receiving their injection, including going to work. It is normal to have a degree of swelling or bruising after receiving lip augmentation treatment. The area may also be painful to the touch. These symptoms will usually resolve over the next few days. The effect of the lip fillers will be noticeable immediately after the procedure, but it is only when the swelling subsides that the true effect will be seen. This is the period that clients should wait for before assessing the results. The effects may require regular visits for maintenance, as the effects usually last just up to a year.
